“Nanny state is a term of British origin that conveys a view that a government or its policies are overprotective or interfering unduly with personal choice. The term “nanny state” likens government to the role that a nanny has in child rearing.” – Wikipedia
In Michael Bloomberg’s quest to make a difference, why does he consistently attempt to limit or take away the choices and rights of law abiding Americans? Are we really so helpless, irresponsible and lacking in reason that in a Bloomberg world self- reliance, individual accountability and righteousness are to be replaced by compliance to authority? It would appear that his latest gun control initiative is based upon that belief.
By taking away choices from law abiding Americans, what is accomplished? Where and when does it stop? Millions of people make mostly good decisions every day. They eat and drink in moderation. They obey the law and go to work on time. They go home and are loving and kind to their spouse and family. They pay their bills and fulfill their obligations. They own firearms and use them in a safe and responsible manner. Yet Bloomberg’s solutions to societal ills always seem to depend upon dictating behavior and limiting freedom. His conclusions lead to more laws, regulations and centralized power. He is a statist wolf in a benevolent dictator’s clothing.
“Land of the Free home of the Brave” is to be replaced by home of the limited and land of the dependent. For Bloomberg and his disciples, effective parenting is replaced by government oversight. The authority and judgment of local school boards and parents is usurped by distant elitist bureaucrats. When central planners go so far as to dictate what and how much we are to eat and drink it becomes apparent that free market forces will no longer drive innovation. Doctors are driven from private practice by overwhelming government reporting requirements while nurses trained as caregivers fill administrative roles. Energy independence and prosperity are stifled by our own government. The dictatorial third world that American exceptionalism had once transcended is our future.
Welcome to a Bloomberg world. It is the danger America’s founding fathers foresaw. It is the tyranny masquerading as a benevolent nanny that robs us of liberty.
We must stop this progressive movement that is bankrupting our Country and destroying the independent spirit, the traditional family and the very Judeo- Christian principles of America’s foundation. Protecting and preserving the 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms has never been more important.
