The One We Can Trust

But the Lord is faithful; He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 NLT

Simple can be significant.  We trust God to take care of us because He is trustworthy . . . take a moment to let that sink in . . . God is worthy of our trust, so we can trust Him . . . completely and confidently.

Paul encourages Christ followers in Thessalonica that God gives strength in our struggles and shields us with safety.  In times of failure or faltering, we can fully depend on God’s faithfulness.  This simple truth is established on a solid foundation.  God loves us.  God cares for us.  And, God is always there for us.

God Promises.  God’s commitment is based on His character. There is no starting point or finishing point to His care. Jeremiah reminds us, “The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” (Lam 3:22-23 NLT).  Each occasion brings new opportunity to hold on to our Hope.  The writer of Hebrews tells us, “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.” (Heb 10:23 NLT).

His promises never fails.

God Gives Power.  God’s power comes from spending time in His presence. The author of Chronicles reminds us, “Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually!” (1 Chron 16:11 ESV).  His strength gives us an unshakable and unwavering security.  David writes, “For who is God except the LORD? Who but our God is a solid rock? God arms me with strength, and He makes my way perfect.” (Ps 18:31-32 NLT).  Thomas S. Monson says, “When faith replaces doubt, when selfless service eliminates selfish striving, the power of God brings to pass His purposes.”

His power never fails.

God Protects.  Dillon Burroughs writes, “Safety comes in our nearness to God, not in our distance from our enemies.”  David proclaims, “My God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my Savior, the One who saves me from violence. I called on the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and He saved me from my enemies.” (2 Sam 22:3-4 NLT).

His protection never fails.

In our weakness, we wait.  In our struggling, we surrender.  In our fears, we find faith.  We can trust our defining moments with Him.
