“O my people, trust in Him at all times. Pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge. Selah”
– Psalms 62:8 NLT
It’s often easier to commune with God in the calmness of the morning, as opposed to calling out to Him in the chaos of the day. As each day begins with the excitement of new opportunities, it can end with the exhaustion of never ending oppositions and obstacles.
Our God is there at the start of each day . . . and, He is there in every struggle we may encounter throughout the day. He is the God of the early morning and the God of every moment. He is there in every situation, in each second, with a ready solution.
The psalmist writes, “Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the LORD hears my voice.” (Ps 55:17 NLT)
Challenges are not chastisement. Problems are not punishment. Adversity is not admonishment.
Challenges are changed in His control. Problems are placated in His presence. Adversity is addressed with His attention.
Trust in Him because He is worthy of your trust. Solomon shares his wisdom with us, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” (Prov 3:5-6 NLT). Our understanding is limited by our situations . . . His is unlimited because of His sovereignty. When we are tossed and turned, He can be trusted. In our time of help, He wants all of our heart.
Rest in Him because He is your refuge. In order to find rest, we must reside in Him. The psalmist reminds us, “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him.” (Ps 91:1-2 NLT). Selah recorded the following lyrics:
You are my hiding place.
You always fill my heart with songs of deliverance.
Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You
Call out to Him because He hears your cry. The collection of Psalms give us comfort . . . “The LORD hears his people when they call to Him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time.” (Ps 34:17-19 NLT). Each time and every time. Martin Luther encourages us, “All who call on God in true faith, earnestly from the heart, will certainly be heard, and will receive what they have asked and desired.” David reminds us, “Then call on Me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give Me glory.” (Ps 50:15 NLT). Cry out . . . call to Him . . . and, He will comfort.
In every hour He will be your help. In every minute He will be your miracle. In every second He will be your source.
In His time . . . we will be defended . . . we will be delivered . . . we will be defined. We’re on His schedule.
