U.S. House Votes to Block D.C. Gun Control Laws

On July 16 the U.S. House voted to block the stringent gun control laws in Washington, D.C.

The amendment to block the laws was offered by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY).

According to The Washington Post, Massie’s amendment was to “the House spending bill containing the District budget that would prevent the city from spending funds to enforce its local gun laws.”

Those laws include firearm registration, a “high capacity” magazine ban, an “assault weapons” ban, “and strict limitations on carrying a gun outside the home.”

  1. This will have zero effect on the laws. D.C. Police will simply shift funds from another department. Until SCOTUS invalidates the gun control laws in D.C., they remain in effect.
