“I will be your God throughout your lifetime— until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”
Isaiah 46:4 NLT
My wife and I have a number of friends who are walking through confusing and challenging days. They often feel abandoned and alone. The question, “Will this ever end?” Is always in the forefront of their fight. Hope is the only anchor that secures the drifting boat of their burdens.
Jehovah God reminds Isaiah of the promise of His never-ending presence. God says, “I will be you God throughout your lifetime”. In good times and bad . . . through heartache and hope . . . through brokenness and blessing . . . from the beginning to the end . . . God will be there.
He Is Creator. Isaiah is encouraged with God’s words, “I made you”. We have been made in His image, longing to be His child and loving His compassion. Paul reminds us “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago”. (Eph 2:10 NLT)
He Cares. Isaiah continues, “and I will care for you”. The apostle Peter gives a helpful word, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” (1 Pet 5:7 NLT). Some translations use the phrase, “casting your cares on Him“. We often need to gather all of our cares and worries, ball them up in a blanket of His grace and throw them to the loving hands of God. He will unwrap, unravel and untangle all of our problems and give us peace.
He Carries. Our God not only saves, He sustains. Isaiah writes, “I will carry you along and save you.” The psalmist tells us, “Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms.” (Ps 68:19 NLT). Each day, He is there . . . never leaving us alone. He will never abandon us.
Scott Wesley Brown wrote the following encouraging lyrics,
There is no problem too big
God cannot solve it.
There is no mountain too tall
God cannot move it.
There is no storm too dark
God cannot calm it.
There is no sorrow too deep
He cannot soothe it.
Oh, if He carries the weight of the world .upon His shoulders
I know my brother that He will carry you
Oh, if He carries the weight of the world upon His shoulders
I know my sister that He will carry you.
